People are always looking to have their cars washed and detailed. You could be a mobile car washer and detailer with a permanent location. Reach out to people you know or make some flyers and put it in your neighbors' mailboxes. If you want to get serious about it, prop up a one-page website or give out business cards. You can make money quickly doing this.
Join a startup accelerator: Another great option is to apply to a startup accelerator like Y Combinator, 500 startups, or TechStars, where a group of investors will help coach you, connect you with potential partners, and provide startup cash in return for a small stake in your company. The competition is tough to get into these, so don’t rely on them as your only path forward.
Set up a roadside stand. Depending on where you live, you could profit handsomely by setting up a roadside stand. How does this loophole continue to exist? Compass Point gestures to a key reason: big institutional money is unable to own small REITs in any kind of volume. Large REITs are the only way they can get into the game and these investors need the stocks' liquidity, so big investors have to pay up for large REITs. Second, investors know the large REITs, but are less familiar with smaller ones. Third, large REITs have a lower cost of capital. Their cost of equity is cheaper (due to the higher multiple) and their cost of debt is less because they're more diversified. Because of this cheaper financing, they can acquire properties at lower cap rates than smaller REITs can. But all the big companies drive acquisition prices higher.

It’s like if you met someone for the first time and the first thing they ask you is if you’re interested in buying something from them. I’d much rather get to know somebody first, trust them, and then have them tell me what they might have to offer. Or better yet, be genuinely interested in what they’re doing, and ask them about it myself. This is the kind of philosophy that I use when promoting other people’s products.
Consider your expertise. If you take the time to reflect on your experiences, you will realize that you have more knowledge about which to write than you might think. Begin by listing three assets that define you, such as your profession, a special hobby or a personality trait. Next, list three things that inspire you, such as religion, education or charity. Finally, list three of your dreams, such as getting married, traveling or spending more time with your children. These three lists should give you many ideas of topics about which you can write.
I really wanted to finish and soak up all that this book has to offer. It's clear that what he teaches works, but if you don't understand the business vocabulary/lingo you may find yourself struggling to read this book like I did. While I understood the concept/gist of what he was saying, I found myself wasting hours just staring at the book, rereading paragraphs multiple times, and getting distracted because I just couldn't understand the vocabulary.
Is there a product or service that you are particularly enthusiastic about? If you are, you may be able to develop a website that is built around selling it. You don’t have to be the actual provider of the product or service either. There are many businesses that offer these products and will allow you to sell them on an affiliate basis. For example, you may be able to sell a product on your website for a commission of 20% or 30% of the sale price.
18. CraigsList – Some things don’t ship very well. Other things may make you feel uncomfortable to sell to someone across the country. Anytime you’re selling a large item or something you just don’t want to ship, Craigslist is a great place to go. It’s simple to list your item (again, take good pictures!). If you don’t like the idea of putting your phone number out there, the interested individual can send you a message to your inbox without even getting your email address.
Learn then selling guidelines. Each marketplace has guidelines that define what you can and cannot sell. State and federal laws also impact what items are prohibited. In general, you cannot sell alcohol, weapons, service contracts, animals or event tickets. Also, while not always prohibited, you may find restrictions on how you can sell items in some categories, such as art, gift cards and coupons. eBay, Craigslist and Amazon publish these guidelines on their websites.
We all have those moments when we see a business that's so simple or so lucrative -- or both -- that we kick ourselves for not having thought of it first. I prefer to channel those moments into something positive, however, realizing that if "those people" could do it, so can any of us. Work remotely for a call center. Because many call center jobs are location independent, finding work in this field is an easy way to earn some money from home. Dozens of sites list job openings for call-center representatives, including Freelancer.com and SimplyHired.com. Meanwhile, you should check local job listings for openings and opportunities as well.
Get-rich-quick schemes and fad weight-loss diets are naturally popular because they satisfy the id while also attending to the super-ego. The ego's job is complete when it sees something like this. The appeal of "fast'' stems from the innate desire for instant gratification, so beware of what seems too good to be true (they often are) when you're looking to make money quickly. Be wary. Listen to the conversation deep within the confines of your mind and do your best to tame the proverbial beasts.
What a book! Now, if you have an overly sensitive ego, this book may make you a little uneasy. However, if you truely want some honest insights into why very intelligent people can make some huge mistakes, then read this book. In some places the reading is a little tedious. However, the examples given and the corrective measures talked about to avoid mistakes have a lot of merit. I'm very thankful that I took a chance on this book. Personally, I think it is a very good and very insightful book.
While some might think that starting a blog is an arduous effort, when you understand the precise steps you need to take, it becomes far easier. It all starts in the decision of choosing a profitable niche and picking the right domain name. From there, you need to build your offers. You can easily sell things like mini-email courses, full-blown trainings, ebooks, and so on.
Shopify is another great option if you are wanting to create your own eCommerce store. Shopify is arguably easier to set up than WooCommerce but will give you less control over your storefront and cost you more long term. However, if you have little to no experience of creating websites or using WordPress, or you are working to a very tight time schedule, then Shopify may be the perfect eCommerce platform for you.
I bought this book thinking that it would provide details of how to go about starting the real estate investing progress. As other reviewer's have noted, this book does have a strong "cheerleading" tone to it without providing much specific information. I am interested in buying a house or two to fix up and sell, not quit my job and start this full time. I found the tactics they mentioned to be downright predatory; for example, getting mail carriers and landscapers to "scope out" neighborhoods to see which homes are receiving lots of certified mail, a sure sign that they might be in financial trouble. There are slick sales scripts that would befit any sleazy used car dealer. They are little verbal sales tricks to get people to trust you; making them feel like it's them against the big bad bankers and that only you can help. It is all under the guise that you are helping people with their financial troubles, when really it's more like a vulture looking for an opportunity. There is no way I am going door to door inquiring about a lost dog just so I can try to start a conversation with someone aabout their personal financial situation in an attempt to buy their house out from under them. This is a book for a good,fast sales person with big ambitions, not just your average homeowner or small time investor.
Find focus groups in your area. Focus groups are comprised of people that can provide a company, organization, or individual with feedback on a product, design, idea, etc. Monitor local postings or search a site like FindFocusGroups.com to find some in your area that you are eligible to participate in. Some of these sites promote online-only tasks, such as serving as an “e-juror” for lawyers working on a case. The pay for these tasks can be relatively good, and can be disbursed quickly.
